25 August 2018: Mini Leather Bag Leathercraft Workshop
Date: 25 August 2018
Time: 9am - 5pm (approx. 8 hours )
Venue: 12, Jalan SS 4c/17, Petaling Jaya, Selangor (i.e. Tinypinc Studio). It is also 5 mins walking distance from Kelana Jaya LRT station.
The Mini Leather Bag workshop is BACK! It had an amazing run during Black Milk Project's 'Pendidikan Seni 2.0' event on 1 July 2018, with a sold-out class! The class will be taught by leathercrafter and our Co-Founder, Saran. You will learn the basics of leathercrafting and make a mini leather bag with a strap using 'saddle-stitch', a traditional leather hand-stitching method which is a stronger, more durable and beautiful stitch. No sewing experience needed to learn how to saddle-stitch. Our leathercraft workshops are always a lot of fun and it’s a beautiful skill to learn. Lunch will be served too. Just bring yourself (and probably some coffee!).
This 8-hour workshop will guide you on crafting your own beautiful Mini Leather Bag. Do note that due to time constraints, some steps of the leathercrafting process will be pre-made beforehand to ensure a smoother experience for you:
Choose your leathers: Rose (RM400), Turquoise Blue (RM400), Light Mint Green (imported Italian leather; RM430) & Tan Brown (imported Italian leather; RM430). Only genuine cow leathers are used.
Please indicate in the comment box during 'Check Out' (or email email@example.com) your preferred strap colours: Turquoise Blue, Tan Brown or Black.
Pre-cut leather bag templates will be prepared, based on the colours you have picked
Learn how to use a pricking iron to create holes in the leather for handstitching
Burnishing/edging the edges of your leather
Learn the traditional saddle-stitch method to hand-stitch leather (i.e. 2 needles on 1 thread) with the assistance of a leather pony to clamp your leather project together. This might be the hardest part, but trust us, you are going to appreciate your finished Mini Leather Bag which you would’ve made in ONE day!
Personalise your leather bag with available studs & stamp embossing. Choose to stamp your name or initials!
What students will receive and what to expect:
Materials will be included
Leather tools will be provided for usage in the workshop
Expect lots of fun! Just check out our previous leathercraft workshops on Facebook and Instagram!
